The case comes with the tasting notes below.
New Zealand Mixed Case. Hawke’s Bay Matakana Pinot Gris 2005, £11.99 Somewhat Alsatian in style, this is opulently rich in flavour and creamy soft and fruity on the palate. A graceful wine with a light lemon hue. The bouquet offers delicate aromas of pear/peach, quince and a hint of cloves. Rich and luscious flavours of ripe melon, succulent apple and lychee with a soft creamy texture. The full, stylish palate gives way to a long smooth finish. 2 x Matakana ‘Moko’ 2004, £12.99. 85% merlot with the remainder as malbec. This has aromas of ripe blackberries, blackcurrants, ruby plums and dark chocolate overlain with hints of smoky oak and cigar box. Intense flavours of plump summer berries are layered with fine fruit tannins and subtle oak character. The complex yet seductively smooth palate leads on to a long soft finish. Syrah 2004 ‘Gimblett’s Gravels’, Craggy Range, £19.99 Powerful aromas of damson, blackberry and chocolate come with hints of white pepper and cinnamon. The palate is deep, pure and very intense, with fabulous silky mouthfeel. The wine finishes very long and spicy. Marlborough 2 x Mudhouse ‘White Swan’ Chardonnay 2005, £11.99. A medium bodied Chardonnay with rich creamy flavours of white peach, grapefruit and underlying nutty spicy oak notes. The nose is lifted and the palate elegant and creamy with well balanced acidity that leads to a warm lingering finish. Extremely elegant, almost French rather than new World style. 2 x Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2006, £8.99 The nose has the usual suspects (grapefruit, guava, a little gooseberry) but also lime zest, acacia flower and orange blossom. Green apple, lime, grapefruit and a slight almond note on a creamy frame. Dry, leading into a long mineral laden finish. Typical full-on fruit style of New Zealand. 2 x Mudhouse Riesling 2005, £10.99 A slighty off-dry style of Riesling, this wine offers loads of complexity and will continue to intrigue the whole bottle through. Part of the appeal of Riesling is its distinct aromatic capabilities, and Mud House has produced a wine that delivers on all accounts. Alluring with its intense lifted floral aromas, it is supported by citrus notes of lime and grapefruit. On the palate it is rich and full with stunning flavours of grapefruit, lime and honeysuckle – summer in a glass! Central Otago
2 x Wild Rock Otago Pinot Noir 2006,'Cupids Arrow', Craggy Range, £10.99 Dense ruby red in colour, this Pinot Noir has red berry and black cherry fruits mixed with the wild herb and floral characters. A soft textured palate with fine grainy tannins and a spicy, dried fruit character on the finish. £124.95 the case - SAVE £23.93. Call us direct on 01273 820320 to get this box as a special order.
